Rome, Oct. 29 (Prensa Latina) The Italian solidarity association La Villetta por Cuba organized today in this capital together with the Accademia Cubana della Salsa (ACS) an action as part of the Cuban Culture Day.
The event was attended by the Cuban ambassador to Italy, Mirta Granda, and the president of this friendship group with the island, Luciano Iacovino, as well as Senator Giovanni Russo of the Communist Refoundation Party and Lázaro Martín, director of the said dance academy.
This event, which took place at the headquarters of La Villetta, was attended by numerous members of this organization, the National Partisan Association of Italy (ANPI), as well as officials of the diplomatic mission of the Antilles country and members of the community of Cubans living in this European country.
In her speech, the Cuban Ambassador thanked La Villetta for her defense of the revolutionary process in her country, which she described as a laudable work, and for her tireless fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which violates the human rights of the Cuban people. .
Granda also spoke about the situation in Palestine, condemning the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip, which resulted in thousands of deaths, which he described as a real massacre, and reiterated Cuba’s position in favor of the cause of this people and its right to exist.
For his part, Iacovino emphasized the will of his organization to provide lasting solidarity support to Cuba and stressed the importance of celebrating this cultural day, an opportunity to further consolidate unity, together by Italians and Cubans.
Senator Russo pointed out that Cuban culture is transmitted throughout the world, as is this country’s struggle for justice, and emphasized the ability to resist the aggressions of the North American government and its supporters, with the aim of strengthening their political and political Power to destroy social system.
Russo said the world was living through traumatic days, described Israel’s attacks on Gaza as an act of terrorism and criticized Italy’s abstention from last Friday’s vote at the United Nations General Assembly that adopted a resolution calling for a ceasefire.
Martín, founder and director of the ACS, member of the La Villetta leadership and coordinator of the associations of Cubans living in central and southern Italy, reiterated in statements to Prensa Latina the purpose of these organizations to continue fighting tirelessly for the defense of Cuba’s revolution and people.
He announced that he would participate, together with other Cuban nationals living in Italy, in the IV Conference on Nation and Emigration, which will take place in Havana on November 18 and 19.
In the days leading up to this event, a container prepared by La Villetta and the ACS will leave for the Caribbean nation with medical supplies, school supplies and musical instruments donated by the Italian people.
