Nearly 3,500 homes in Quebec were still plunged into darkness on Sunday night into Monday due to power outages on the Hydro-Québec network caused by strong winds that affected several sectors overnight.

The state-owned company reported about 3,498 households without power in its report shortly before 4 a.m., most of them in Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Montérégie.
For example, 1,441 Hydro-Québec customers in Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine were waiting to be reconnected while the outages recorded in Quebec and Estrie were resolved.
In addition to around 1,234 customers without power in Montérégie, more than 530 households in Montreal were affected by outages, according to the state-owned company’s report.
Dozens of families in Lanaudière, the Laurentians, the North Coast and Center-du-Québec also waited for power to be restored.
Hydro-Québec officials were still working Monday morning to resolve issues related to the outages, which still have not been addressed in the province, it said.
