A monkey grabbed a seagull and beat it to death in front of a shocked family at Chester Zoo [Video]

This is the horrific moment when the monkey turned into “King Kong” as it climbed a 20-foot-tall pole and snatched a flying seagull from the sky before brutally smashing it to death and eating it.

The shocking incident took place at the Chester Zoo, Cheshire, on Saturday, February 26, when visitors witnessed a capuchin monkey grab a large bird flying by.

Beck Adamson, 32, was enjoying a “beautiful day” at the zoo with her son and former partner when she saw the scene unfold and began filming.

The video shows the intimidating monkey holding prey by the head and repeatedly banging it against a wooden pole in its enclosure.

The capuchin monkey even seemed to “lick the blood from its fingers” when the bird went limp after being beaten to death.

Ms Adamson said the monkey’s aggression and pose reminded her of the iconic King Kong scene where a giant primate dangles from the Empire State Building and rips planes out of the sky to destroy them.

A mother of one from Northwich, Cheshire, and her former partner Jamie Stockall, 35, described how the zoo animal then dropped a seagull and quickly scrambled downstairs to grab the “guts” of the carcass and pick it up to eat.

Ms Adamson said her five-year-old son Dominic Minshall was fascinated because it was reminiscent of David Attenborough’s nature clips, which he loves so much.

The next day, March 6, the hotel worker posted her amazing video on TikTok, where it was viewed more than 2 million times.

Miss Adamson said: “It was like the real King Kong. He really beat him on the pole and pulled the feathers. It was just very aggressive and crazy.

“We were just here to see the rhinos, so we were walking, then I saw all these gulls circling, and then this monkey caught one as it flew by. It was really smart.

“I said that Jamie and Dominic also watched, so I started filming… I couldn’t believe I was filming it.

“Other people started watching too, and all of a sudden there were like 100 people. It was really cruel, but it’s natural. This is what happens in nature.

“Dominic asked if David Attenborough was watching because we watch stuff like that at home.

“He just thought it was amazing because he thought they were fighting.”

According to Miss Adamson, many seagulls flew over the top of the pole, but the monkey chose only one “poor thing.”

She added, “You can’t help but watch.”

After she shared the footage, Ms. Adamson was baffled by how widely it was shared.

Her TikTok post with the ironic caption “A wonderful family day” was liked 40,000 times and garnered more than 1,000 comments.

Anthony Brooks wrote, “King Kong beats a giant bird.”

Robert Gill agreed and joked, “What people don’t know is that this is happening on the set of the next King Kong movie. Kong vs Gulzilla.

Martin Brown stated, “It’s cruel, but so nice.”

Dwight Schrute added: “You’re licking your fingers.”

A Chester Zoo spokesman said: “The yellow-headed capuchin shown in the video is a wild animal with all its hunting instincts and skills.”
