On sanctioning pension for orphans of femicide victims, PT member suggests resolving the conflict at the negotiating table
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) this Tuesday (October 31, 2023) compared the war between Israel and Hamas to the quarrel of a couple when he proposed resolving the conflict at a negotiating table. He criticized the Gaza confrontation, saying it was the first in which the majority of victims were children.
“Solving the problem at the negotiating table, in a conversation, is much cheaper, much easier and much more economical. When a couple has a disagreement at home, they sit at a table, talk, discuss. “It is not possible for us to break up because of a disagreement or jealousy,” he explained.
The speech took place during a ceremony to approve the law that guarantees a pension to orphans of victims of femicide, which is why the PT member criticized men who attack their wives.
“For the first time we are experiencing a war in which the majority of those killed are children and no one is responsible. We can’t write a letter from the UN that convinces people to fight and stop. “For God’s sake, stop!” he said.

The PT member said he did not know the origin of the violence in the world and asked whether those responsible for the war felt the burden of the children’s deaths.
“I don’t know the origin of the violence, I don’t know the origin, because when I see there in the Gaza Strip, 3,000 children are falling in a war that they did not promote, that they did not demand, that they did not demand. Do the irresponsible people who fought the war mourn the deaths of these children? Do you feel the weight of things? Then we even miss the time when wars took place between soldiers.”
