NYC is getting VERY scary! A Halloween parade parades through the streets of Greenwich Village. The NYPD is on high alert amid tensions between Israel and Hamas

New Yorkers got into the Halloween spirit as the streets of the Big Apple were taken over by the annual trick-or-treat parade.

Celebrities including Bradley Cooper and model Irina Shayk joined the growing crowd, and the actor thrilled fans as he lived up to his Guardians of the Galaxy role in a Rocket Raccoon costume.

A series of haunting Halloween outfits and hilarious parodies descended on Manhattan’s West Village on Tuesday night to close out this year’s spooky festivities.

Also on display were a life-like resurrection of ’60s starlet Marilyn Monroe, spooky Day of the Dead masks and adorable children dressed as their favorite characters.

The celebrations came at a time of heightened tensions in the city, where demonstrators took to the streets to protest amid the conflict in the Middle East.

The NYPD said Tuesday that security was “heightened” as the Halloween celebration comes at a time of tension over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but added that no specific, credible threats had been made.

In other major U.S. cities where police departments have increased vigilance in recent weeks amid concerns about terrorism or violent protests over the conflict in Gaza, officials said they had little fear that Halloween would bring additional threats .

Tens of thousands are expected to flock to Manhattan for the parade, with officials acknowledging that the variety of colors and costumes could complicate their work.

“We will be out there in an elevated position,” New York City Police Chief Jeffrey Maddrey told Fox 5 on Monday.

“Right now we’re just living in a different time, with the war in Israel,” he added, before noting that “there are no concrete, credible threats at this time.”

Officials warned revelers to remain vigilant, and Maddrey concluded: “We see the tensions and there is a lot of hostility out there.”
