The Rafah border crossing will be opened to foreigners following a deal brokered by Qatar
The Portal news agency announced that the Rafah crossing, a border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, will be opened indefinitely to allow the departure of foreign passport holders.
According to a source close to the discussions quoted by Portal and remaining anonymous, Qatar actually negotiated an agreement between Egypt, Israel and Hamas in coordination with the United States. The opening of the passage should also enable some seriously injured people to leave the besieged Gaza Strip.
“A first group of people with foreign passports will cross the Rafah terminal towards Egypt on Wednesday,” an official from the authorities in charge of this border post with Gaza, which has been relentlessly controlled by Israel since the beginning of the war against Hamas, also told AFP is bombed.
In Rafah on the Egyptian side, intelligence-linked televisions showed live a number of ambulances entering the terminal while 81 injured Palestinians were to be transferred to Egyptian hospitals on Wednesday, according to Egyptian and Palestinian officials.
