At least four Palestinians were killed in Israeli operations in the West Bank

At least four Palestinians have been killed in new Israeli army operations in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Authority Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The West Bank, Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, has been hit by an intensification of violence since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, triggered by the Islamist movement’s unprecedented bloody attack on October 7 on Israeli soil.

According to the Ministry of Health, three people were killed in an operation in Jenin and another in Tulkarem.

The Israeli army said in a statement that it had “carried out counter-terrorism operations in the Jenin camp.”

The West Bank is the site of numerous Israeli army operations, abuses by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian population, and Palestinian attacks on settlements and Israeli forces.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 125 Palestinians have been killed by fire from Israeli soldiers or settlers in the West Bank since October 7.

A strike was called in the West Bank on Wednesday in solidarity with the Gaza Strip. In Ramallah, shops remained closed and the streets were almost empty.

“The most important thing we demand is to stop injustice and tyranny, to stop killing innocent people,” Fakhri Mohammad Shreiteh, a 26-year-old Ramallah resident, told AFP.

According to Israeli authorities, more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, were killed in Israel, most of them during the Hamas attack on October 7.

According to the Hamas Health Ministry, which controls the Gaza Strip, retaliatory Israeli bombings in the Palestinian territory have killed more than 8,500 people, the vast majority of them civilians.
