The star actor of the popular soap opera “General Hospital,” Tyler Christopher, has died at the age of 50. He would have been discovered at his home by one of his friends without having heard anything from him.

Local law enforcement sources in San Diego told TMZ that officers responded to a 911 call from Mr. Christopher’s apartment on Tuesday morning.

According to the source in question, a close friend of Tyler Christopher had entered the apartment using a key given to him by the late actor.
The friend, who has not yet been identified, found the man dead in the bedroom. Christopher had reportedly been dead for some time.

A great loss for the people who were close to him
Maurice Benard, his “General Hospital” colleague, later confirmed the actor’s death.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher,” the actor wrote on Instagram. “Tyler died this morning of complications from a heart attack at his home in San Diego.”

“Tyler was a truly talented individual who lit up the screen in every scene he performed and loved bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting,” he added.
Benard also spoke about Christopher’s battle with mental health and addiction.

“Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance abuse treatment and spoke openly about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.”
The actor’s representative also confirmed the death of Tyler Christopher. “This news was incredibly shocking and I am devastated by his loss.”

The late actor appeared in two roles on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.” He played Nikolas Cassadine from 1996 to 2016 and Connor Bishop from 2004 to 2005.

In 2016, Christopher won the Daytime Emmy Award for his work on the series.
He then appeared on the soap opera “Days of Our Lives” from 2017 to 2019 and was then selected for an Emmy nomination for his role as Stefan DiMera.
