According to the written statement from Dominic Cummings, the Prime Minister’s principal adviser to the public inquiry into the handling of the pandemic
During his time in office, Boris Johnson interviewed two eminent scientists to advise the government on the possible use of a special hairdryer near the nose to combat Covid-19, his former adviser said.
Dominic Cummings, Boris Johnson’s top adviser, said in a written statement released on Wednesday to the public inquiry into the handling of the pandemic that in March 2020 Johnson “circulated a video of a man using a special nose blower to kill Covid.” and asked government scientific adviser Patrick Vallance and chief medical officer Chris Whitty.“What did you think?”
He added that the video is no longer available as it has been removed from the YouTube platform.
Furthermore, he described Boris Johnson as someone who was “extremely distracted” and listed his financial problems caused by the finalization of his divorce.
“His current partner wanted to announce their engagement” and the former president “said he wanted to work on his book about Shakespeare, which had not yet seen the light of day.”
The release of this statement on Wednesday comes a day after an overwhelming day for the former prime minister in the United Kingdom Public inquiry into the handling of the pandemic.
Former advisers to Boris Johnson said on Tuesday they had seen him overwhelmed by the events and little concerned about the victimsin a country hit hard by the pandemic, with more than 230,000 deaths.
On Wednesday, senior civil servant Helen McNamara described messages she received from the former prime minister as “violent and misogynistic”, and Dominic Cummings condemned it “toxic” atmosphere that prevailed during his time in office.
Dominic Cummings himself was caught in a media storm for traveling in total lockdown, but Boris Johnson supported him and kept him in office despite the controversy.
Boris Johnson was forced to resign in July 2022 due to a series of scandals, most notably the parties in Downing Street breaching anti-Covid health regulations.
