- The Israeli army confirms a bomb attack on the Jabaliya refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip. According to Hamas, at least 50 people were killed in the explosions in the enclave’s largest camp, which is home to 116,000 people. The IDF claims to have killed a commander of the Islamist movement there.
- Israel says it has intercepted surface-to-surface missiles fired from the Red Sea region. Houthi rebels in Yemen claim to have fired drones at Israel.
- Israel counted 240 hostages and regretted the deaths of 350 soldiers. These hostages are not all Israeli citizens, which makes their identification difficult, an Israeli army spokesman said.
- For the United Nations, the Gaza Strip has become a “graveyard for thousands of children.”. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterates his condemnation of the October 7 Hamas attacks and his call for the release of the hostages, and also “condemns” the deaths of “civilians in Gaza” – the Israeli response is said to have killed more than 8,500 people, according to the Islamist movement there are more than 3,500 children.
- The Quai d’Orsay announces the death of two young French citizens in Gaza. According to the French Foreign Ministry, these children were with their mother in the north of the Gaza Strip. No information was given about the circumstances of her death.
- Hamas announces release of foreign hostages. Abou Obeida, spokesman for Hamas’s military branch, said on Tuesday that the Islamist movement would release foreign hostages “in the coming days,” including those it has held in Gaza since its Oct. 7 attack on Israeli territory.
- Pro-Iranian groups cannot “keep silent” in the face of conflict, Tehran says. During a visit to Qatar, Iranian diplomatic chief Hossein Amir Abdollahian sent a warning to Israel’s allies as attacks against Israel and its American ally by groups backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran increase in Iraq and Syria.
- Anti-Semitic acts in France: Elisabeth Borne condemns “despicable acts”. Since October 7, “more than 850 incidents have occurred and almost 6,000 online reports have been made,” the prime minister said during government questioning in the National Assembly, citing “more than 430 arrests and more than 230 ongoing investigations.”
