Regina Duarte, a leading actress on Brazilian television, appeared collecting cardboard in a video posted on social media this week. After being fired from Globo to work as Jair Bolsonaro’s secretary a position she held for less than three months she now works as an artist and uses recyclable materials in her work.
In the shot, shared by gallery Aqua Arte on Instagram, Regina collects cardboard boxes on the streets of São Paulo and also collects pieces of tree bark. He then appears to use the materials to create various arts. The space in Moema is responsible for the first exhibition of the former actress’s new career.
The exhibition “Nature and Me: New Discoveries” runs until the 18th at the gallery at Rua Canário, 1.135. The artist will even be there this Saturday (4) and invite fans to visit.
“I hope that they are there, that they appear at the Aqua Arte exhibition. Regina Duarte hasn’t seen any soap operas since Tempo de Amar (2017); In 2020 she was special secretary for culture in the federal government, then under the command of Jair Bolsonaro. She spent less than three months in the position and was fired in early June with a promise to take over Cinemateca Brasileira which never materialized.
