More than 500 job cuts at Groupe TVA

TVA Group will cut more than 500 jobs from its workforce as part of a restructuring to ensure its sustainability, Quebecor announced Thursday.

The company announced Thursday a major restructuring of its operations, affecting content production at TVA as well as all of its media, including Le Journal de Montréal, Le Journal de Québec and the group’s magazines.

In order to reduce its costs, TVA Group will reduce the production of its own programs such as “Le Tricheur” or “La Poule auxoeufs” and outsource this work to external producers.

Only service and information programs such as “Salut Bonjour” continue to be produced in-house.

In addition, teams from all Quebecor media will be brought together under one roof to reduce costs associated with real estate.

“Following this restructuring, TVA Group will, with great regret, reduce its total workforce by 547 employees, including 300 in internal production, 98 primarily in the operation of regional TVA stations and 149 in other sectors, representing 31% of its current workforce.” Number of employees” , the company said in a press release issued on the occasion of the presentation of its quarterly results.
