Chinese police arrested a worker for peeing in a truck loaded with malt at a famous Tsingtao brewery.
Authorities in Pingdu, eastern China, where Tsingtao’s “number three” brewery is located, said a subcontractor’s driver had previously argued with another worker when it came to cleaning leftover malt from the truck body.
The driver climbed into the cargo compartment, urinated there and was filmed by another worker, who published the video on social media.
State newspaper China Daily reported on Friday that the brewery, opened by German settlers in 1903 during the colonial era, had publicly apologized.

Shares fell
The Oct. 19 incident highlighted gaps in transportation that the company wanted to fix, Tsingtao wrote.
The video of the worker peeing sparked controversy on social media in China. According to China Daily, the company’s shares briefly lost value following the stock market scandal.

Authorities said they arrested the driver a few days later, on Oct. 22, for damaging property. According to Tsingtao, the affected batch of malt was sealed to prevent it from entering the fermentation process.
The state-owned beer brand from the eastern Chinese coastal city of Qingdao is one of China’s biggest and most famous beer brands and is also available in German stores. According to its own information, the company has 60 breweries across the country.
