49-year-old Erin Patterson was arrested in connection with the deaths of her ex-husband’s parents and another woman. The Australian is suspected of poisoning her with a lunch of fillet and poisonous mushrooms at the end of July, as The Guardian reports. The story shocked the small town of Leongatha, about a hundred kilometers from Melbourne.
Among the guests, a priest survived who struggled between life and death for a long time and then had to undergo a liver transplant. Only the cook, Erin Patterson, didn’t feel sick, leading police to suspect she may have wanted to kill the two. On the other hand, the lady always maintained her innocence and explained that she had bought the mushrooms, partly fresh and partly dried, from two different shops in the area.
The investigation also revealed that the woman had also tried to kill her ex-spouse in recent years. Her ex-husband was among the guests at the fateful lunch last July, but she had to cancel due to a last-minute appointment.
