This organization is sponsored by the American charity National Philanthropic Trust, reports CNN.

“In the spirit of Matthew Perry’s commitment to helping people struggling with the disease of substance addiction, we are launching this project to honor his legacy through the creation of the Matthew Perry Foundation,” the foundation said in a press release.

Matthew Perry, best known for his role as “Chandler” on the popular television series “Friends,” spoke about his drug problems and the lengths he went to to deal with them.

In an interview with CNN last year, the actor said he hoped his achievements would be remembered in helping others struggling with the same issues.
