The Beatles are celebrated by a Quebec symphony orchestra

On September 8, 1964, the Beatles gave their only two career concerts in Montreal. On the occasion of the 60the To mark the anniversary of this historic passage, a symphony tour will take place in several Quebec cities in September 2024.

The Classical Mystery Tour has been presenting Beatles tribute shows for 22 years and will benefit from a symphonic bonus for this new tour. They are accompanied by 32 musicians from the FILMharmonique Orchestra.

As the name suggests, this orchestra is “Canada’s first film music orchestra.” Since its inception in 2015, it has shown film concerts including “Harry Potter,” “Star Wars” and “Titanic.”

“This is the first time that we are giving a concert entirely dedicated to a name as big as the Beatles,” says the young conductor of the FILMharmonique Orchestra, Francis Choinière.

The big Achievements

Although he is only 26 years old, the bandleader grew up listening to the Beatles at home. “It was my father who introduced her to me when I was young. It’s now part of the repertoire.”

The idea for a Fab Four symphony show came about about six months ago. For this show, the orchestra and the Classical Mystery Tour will perform nearly 30 songs. We will be able to hear Here Comes The Sun, Let It Be, Hey Jude, Something and Twist and Shout.

“We started by choosing the greatest hits, but we wanted to touch on a little bit of everything and not just make an album,” says Francis Choinière.

The symphony show will embark on a mini-tour next year to five cities in Quebec and one city in Ontario. The conductor mentions that he would like to add more regions to the calendar if the public response is positive.

The show The Beatles – Symphonic Homage takes place in Toronto (September 5th), Montreal (September 7th), Victoriaville (September 8th), Saint-Jérôme (September 15th), Rimouski (September 21st) and Quebec (September 22nd). For information: linktr.ee/gfnbeatles.
