Speaking about her time there, Angela claimed a BBC producer described her as a “glamor figure”, despite specifically highlighting her “strengths and abilities”.

She said: “I think in his mind I was ‘the glamour’, which was just never a role that I felt like I was…like I understood what that was but it just wasn’t in my head.” . I wasn’t that person.’

She further claimed a friend called her and told her to be careful, adding: “A friend of mine called me…he said, ‘Well, I applied for the job and this person had said, ‘That’s the show.’ Dara O’Briain and that chick Angela Scanlon – she’s awesome and teeth.

The TV presenter said she was “completely angry” at the comments.

She continued: “The next meeting I had with this person, it was less about the content – which was my job in my mind – and more about what do you think you’re going to wear?” I thought, ‘This is not important’.

“And they said, ‘Yeah, you know, I just think we need a little bit of glamour’.”

“I was absolutely defiant that this wasn’t my performance. It felt so reductive and pretentious that I arrived with my lipstick on and my legs outstretched to entertain the boys and that was my worth. ‘I thought absolutely not.’

Angela defiantly continued to host the show in boiler suits to ensure no skin was visible.

The various versions of the fashion piece ended up being something like a uniform.

When contacted for comment, the BBC told Web: “We have no comment.”

This comes after ITV bosses discussed the possibility of Angela replacing Holly Willoughby on This Morning following her success on the dance show.

The Irish presenter was approached by the channel’s managers as a potential candidate to take part in the show.

An ITV source said: “Angela’s name has been mentioned and in fact she would be a great replacement for Holly. “She ticks all the boxes and has a wealth of experience.”
