The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly informed Whit Merrifield that they do not want to exercise the $18 million option in his contract for the 2024 season.
The 34-year-old athlete will become a free agent for the very first time in his career, The Athletic announced on Friday. However, the Queen City organization would be willing to repatriate anyone who can play as an outfielder or second base, albeit for a less impressive salary.
