One of the requirements of an actor is to lend his body to art. And one of the consequences is that you always change your appearance according to the figure. Gloria Pires has been on television since she was a child and has long, short strands with bangs… Like Irene in “Land and Passion”, she has straight, long and dyed hair. But this time the artist doesn’t have to wait for the end of the soap opera to put the villain’s gaze aside. As she leaves Estúdios Globo each day, the 60yearold Rio native reverts to her natural hair: short and gray. The secret of this transformation is the lace used by the figure, which has attracted a lot of attention precisely because it looks extremely natural.
— When I went to shoot the soap opera, Walcyr (Carrasco, writer) thought it would be interesting that Irene was gray, but our director, Luiz Henrique Rios, had the idea that she would have long hair, and that would be definitely not the case color. He was categorical and said that at her age the character would no longer be that confident and fulfilled woman explains Gloria, who in real life enjoys flaunting her natural strands: I have Bento (the youngest son) even promised that I will grow my hair but I don’t know if I can do that. The short film is a fantastic release!

Gloria says she was the one who suggested using lace. The actress already had short hair and decided to cut it even shorter to make it easier to adjust and place the accessory.
— A Megahair for Irene was immediately rejected because I have a lot of hair and it grows quickly. We would have to constantly repair the roots, a process that could take up to two days.

The soap opera team was afraid to go for lace. But the end result was so natural that everyone agreed.
— The director was afraid, especially because of HD (the soap opera is recorded and shown in high resolution). It’s the famous shot in the foot because it reveals everything we don’t want. Then there is a whole process of processing to make the images palatable. Every night for a year, this character could eventually go bad in people’s homes, but that doesn’t happen. On the other hand! — says Gloria, who considers the result to be excellent: — I am very satisfied! The lace was crucial to creating this look, which was so different from anything I’ve ever done. It has become very natural and that is due to a lot of patience. Not just those who posted it, but mine too (laughs). This process took almost three hours. Now the team and I are experts! We do it in about 40/50 minutes.
Gilvete Santos, the leading actress of the soap opera, is responsible for Gloria’s daily preparation:
— The lace is put on and taken off very carefully every day. Gloria’s hair is prepared with a transparent cap so that we can then put the wig in the correct position. It is glued to a specific imported product.
The character believes that the top fulfills the task of physically giving Irene the characteristics of a beautiful and ambitious villain.
— We wanted to show a powerful, strong, sensual and dominant woman who has everything and everyone in her hands. She uses her characteristics, her sex appeal, to seduce and control repeats Gilvete, who reveals more details about the lace: They were ordered in São Paulo. Yes, arranged in the plural because there are two (laughs). They were made from cottonsilk fabric and implanted thread by thread. The hair is 100% natural and the color used is honey.
The person who created the tips was character artist Emi Sato, who worked on the last season of “Cine Holliúdy.” She explains the manufacturing process, which took about 20 days.
— To make the wigs, the material was imported from Germany specifically for cinema cameras. We used a fabric hat as the basis, to which the straps and tulle were sewn. Choosing the hair is one of the most important parts to adapt it to the reference in terms of volume, texture and color explains Emi, who indicates that the main challenge is to do everything thoroughly to ensure the natural effect: Everything starts with the preparation base to ensure the lowest possible volume on the head. Even if your application is flawless, we always pay attention to every detail.

Regular maintenance is required to ensure that the tip remains perfect.
— It is important to clean the tulle carefully after use, removing any remaining glue and being careful not to damage it. In any case, it is necessary to care for the front of the wig and replace the tulle and implant about every 40 days. Because foil tulle is very sensitive and frays when used.
Gloria’s choice of accessories offered numerous advantages:
— The lace gave the actress the freedom to wear her own hair in life, thereby protecting the health of her hair. She pays attention to the usual care every day, as there is no direct product contact with her hair says Gilvete.

Gloria describes her routine at home:
— I spend about ten hours a day with my hair covered in lace. That’s why I use a detox shampoo with Amazonian ingredients.
