Red graffiti was painted on the building where the state-owned company’s studios are located. Images of the scene were shared on Instagram late Saturday by the page Montreal4Palestine.
The vandals are therefore calling on the Canadian media to classify Israel’s actions as “genocide” with graffiti that read, in particular, “Justice for journalists in Gaza” and “Call it genocide.”
The damage had been repaired on Sunday morning, as TVA Nouvelles was able to determine.
According to the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), one person has been arrested and identified. The investigation is ongoing and images from surveillance camera videos need to be viewed.
“Several events were reported as part of yesterday’s demonstration, including an incident that allegedly took place at around 5 p.m. near the well-known building on the corner of Avenue Papineau and Boulevard René-Lévêque. One person has been arrested on misdemeanor charges and the case is still under investigation,” said SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin.
Recall that several thousand people gathered in Montreal and Quebec to support Palestine and demand an “immediate ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip.
