Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk didn’t like how the team’s fans booed the team after a 6-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.
In addition to the boos, shouts of “Fire DJ” (DJ Smith, the team’s head coach) could be heard during the game.
And the captain didn’t like it. At all.
“It’s frustrating, and when you don’t win, it’s frustrating,” Tkachuk said after the game. All the negativity from outside, it’s frustrating, the constant booing and all the crap from the fans tonight. I understand they’re passionate fans and they love it, but when you’re faced with adversity, you don’t turn your back on the guys that are there. We’re doing our best, I know it’s frustrating right now. We don’t give up, we fight until the end.
“It was very frustrating tonight to be honest.”
With a record of 4-6-0, the Senators are in last place in the Atlantic Division standings.
Recently, the team’s new owner replaced Pierre Dorion with Steve Staios as the new general manager, although Staios still holds the title of interim GM.
