Strictly Come Dancing 2023 RESULT: Adam Thomas has become the sixth contestant to be eliminated from the BBC competition after a tough dance-off with Angela Rippon

Adam Thomas became the sixth contestant to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2023 on Sunday night.

The 35-year-old Waterloo Road actor and his pro partner Luba Mushtuk were at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday with their American Rumba to Dancing On My Own by Calum Scott, scoring 27 out of 40.

They competed against Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington in a terrifying dance-off to convince judges Craig, Motsi, Anton and Shirley to stay in the competition.

But even though Anton called the dance-off the “closest” of the series so far, all four judges ultimately decided to save Angela and Kai.

When Tess asked him about his time on Strictly, an emotional Adam praised his “incredible” time on the show and revealed he took part because of his children.

He said: “Seven incredible weeks, what a journey it has been.”

“Honestly I thought I would leave in the second week and the fact that I have come this far makes me so proud of myself. I had a great time from start to finish.”

“I came here to learn to dance and I’ve learned so much more about myself.” “The confidence and belief I have in myself now is out of this world. I have to thank all these guys up here.”

He continued: “What a blast it is to be on this journey, I’m just very, very lucky!” I know my kids are home now and probably crying, it’s okay – Dad’s okay !

“I just wanted to teach my kids that it’s not just about winning or losing, but about participating and doing your best.” [To Luba] I just want to say thank you and I’m sorry, I wanted to take us to Blackpool!’

Luba replied: “Don’t be sorry, you’re incredible, I had the best season.”

“Just to meet you, your family and your children, it was much more than just a dance show. “You are forever the winner of my heart and that is better than a trophy.”

It comes after Adam admitted he was plagued by self-doubt while overcoming his debilitating illness to appear on the show.

Speaking to The Sun, the 35-year-old Waterloo Road actor expressed that the workload is incredibly challenging as he has very little time for his family.

Adam, who was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis earlier this year, admitted he had suffered health setbacks due to his joint condition and had to miss training due to a recent flu outbreak.

He said: “It’s been an emotional few days because it’s so tiring because of the workload.” “Some days are harder than others but it’s worth it.”

Despite the difficulties, the Waterloo Road actor said he is aware that taking part in the show is only temporary and is therefore trying to make the most of it.

Adam, who married 32-year-old Caroline Daly in 2017, went on to describe his wife as “incredible”.

In a candid tribute, he said he appreciates their unwavering support in managing their family and household responsibilities while he is immersed in rehearsals.

Adam gushed about the blonde beauty, who he has been with for 15 years, and highlighted her commitment to their two children Teddy, nine, and Elsie, five, especially when it came to managing school runs and domestic tasks.

In the candid chat, Adam admitted he struggled with self-doubt at times due to coming from a family of TV personalities, which also included his brother Ryan and twin Scott.

However, over the course of his Strictly journey he has discovered a growing inner confidence and is now really proud of his progress on the show and has learned to believe in himself more.

He said, “It turns out I’m good enough and I should believe in myself a little more.”

“I’m really proud of what I’ve done on the show so far.”

Adam’s heartbreaking rumba on Saturday evening left his wife Caroline teary-eyed.

Claudia Winkleman said: ‘I know this song means so much to you, your wife had tears in her eyes’, to which Adam exclaimed: ‘Yes, that was our wedding song.’ It was really special.’

The results show started with a great routine choreographed by Strictly alumni Oti Mabuse and a performance by Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson, who sang “On My Love” in the ballroom.

The remaining eight couples will take to the dance floor next when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday November 11 at 6.05pm. The results will be shown on BBC One on Sunday November 12th at 7.20pm.
