(Montreal) An employee of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) was injured by the possibly drunk driver of an SUV in Montreal on Sunday night.

The accident occurred around 2:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highways 15 North and 40 East, at an access ramp to the exit of the so-called Décarie highway.

“According to initial information gathered, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) hit road flares and then crashed into a Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility van that was parked in the right lane, protecting it from a further collision,” explained Sergeant Catherine Bernard. “The worker was in his van. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where there were no fears for his life,” said the SQ spokesman.

The driver of the SUV was arrested.

“He was arrested for driving under the influence. He was then taken to the station to undergo a breathalyzer test. The 39-year-old man has been released and is expected to appear at a later date in connection with this incident,” Sergeant Bernard said.
