247 Argentine candidate for ultraliberal president Javier Milei said that if elected he would close the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts and the Ministry of Culture.
The National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, a body promoting Argentine cinema, has released a video highlighting the importance of cinema to the country.
“Here come victories, and when they come, they will never be forgotten,” goes the video’s narration, while excerpts from films such as “O Anjo” and “Relatos Selvagens” are shown.
The video was shown at the opening of the Mar del Plata Festival. During the event, actors demonstrated and held banners reading “Argentine cinema is memory” and “Argentine cinema united by democracy.”
