Honduran singer Manuel Castillo Girón has died

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.-The country’s art world is mourning the death of the famous artist this Sunday Honduran singer Manuel Castillo Gironat the age of 83.

Friends and family were responsible for confirming the death of the author of the H’s official anthem: “Forward selection“.

To this day, the exact cause of death is unknown, but it is important to mention that Castillo Girón remained bedridden for several years due to an accident.

That incident saw the musician fall onto a big screen during a domestic event and his health has since deteriorated.

Who was Manuel Castillo Girón?

Born in 1940 in the parish of Jesús de Otoro, Intibucá, he showed from an early age a love of music that he inherited from his mother.

At the age of 11, Manuel wrote his first song, which he dedicated to his school friend, as he said a few years ago.

The musician was the author of “Adelante Selección”, a song declared the official anthem of the national team and presented on May 20, 1980.

He was awarded the national art prize “Pablo Zelaya Sierra”.

In addition to the H anthem, Castillo Girón is also known for songs such as “Jelipita” and “El Indio Gualcinse”.
