Peretz suffered from muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy and was reported missing after the attack. The body of his father, Arik Peretz, was found about ten days after the attack.

The wheelchair he used to get around was found a few days after the massacre near the Gaza border. His father Eric, who was also reported missing, was found lifeless by police and medical personnel on October 16.

In a tribute article to Walla! said Dr. Ilan Rabinovich details Ruth’s condition.

“Ruth had difficulty eating normally and was dependent on gastric food. She is disabled and paralyzed. She only communicates using simple words that her family understands,” Rabinovich wrote. “They went to that tragic party together because it made Ruth immensely happy. Eric had taken Ruth to these parties for years because they made her feel good.”
