Mexican La Jornada condemns Israel’s nuclear threat to Gaza

Neither Washington nor Moscow ever made such an explicit threat during the worst years of the Cold War, nor did any of the nuclear powers do so subsequently, despite the acute crises and tensions the planet has experienced since then, the diary adds.

The seriousness of what was expressed, he adds, deserves the greatest rejection on the international stage and should lead to immediate dismissal at the Israeli level. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has simply left Eliyahu out of cabinet meetings until further notice.

To put things in perspective, the newspaper reminds that Tel Aviv is not facing a hostile country on minimally equal terms, but has been determined for a month to inflict death and suffering on a cornered civilian population, as described by viewed by numerous accredited voices in the international community as a genocidal exercise. In this way, the threat of nuclear holocaust becomes a confirmation of a will to annihilation – which has little or nothing to do with the fight against Hamas and other armed groups – a will shared by the far-right fundamentalist faction, the controls political power in the State of Israel.

There is currently no room for attempts at demarcation, which the regime in Tel Aviv intends to do in the face of such a declaration.

The truth is that the actions of the Israeli government against the population of the Gaza Strip – women, men, the elderly, girls and boys, seriously ill patients, people with disabilities – show that nuclear weapons are not necessary to liquidate the population of the Gaza Strip.

In another sense, what Eliyahu said is a confirmation of his country’s status as a nuclear power, something that no Israeli ruler has wanted to confirm so far and, as can be seen, is one of the most dangerous for the world, he argues today.

Just yesterday, thousands of Mexicans once again took to the streets of the capital to denounce the genocidal government of President Benjamin Netanyahu and demand an immediate end to the carnage it is wreaking with impunity in Gaza as part of an aggression of ethnic annihilation.

The only precedent for a nuclear explosion in the atomic age is Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States, an ally of Israel, when Japan had already been defeated in World War II.
