The Trois-Rivières theater group Les Sages Fous begins a tour of the United States with their show Tricycle from November 7th to December 8th.
Jacob Brindamour, show co-creator and sole performer, will present a series of performances across the Northeast United States, including a series of three shows at the prestigious La MaMa Theater Presentation Center in the heart of Manhattan. This arts center is described by the New York Times as “a multicultural hive of avant-garde theater and performance art.”
Developed in Trois-Rivières, Tricyclele is intended to be a fairground game, a game of illusions and metamorphoses; a show in which the person, the object and the doll coexist. The tricycle then transforms in front of the spectators’ eyes. It is also a reference to the men who ride through the city of Trois-Rivières on their old tricycles and their makeshift trailers.
After its stop at La MaMa, the show returns to Mayo Street Arts in Portland on November 18th and 19th, exactly ten years after Les Sages Fous visited with their Orphan Circus. Then it’s the turn of the Sandglass Theater in Vermont on December 1st and 2nd, and then the Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline (Massachusetts) on December 6th and 8th. (MEBA)
