19/20 takes stock of the information from the last 24 hours in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
On Monday, November 6th, Ukraine celebrated its 620th day of war. Demonstration of Polish truck drivers, Ursula von der Leyen’s visit to Kiev and imaginary conversation between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump… Here are the three most important news of the day to remember.
Picture of the day: Demonstration of Polish truckers
One of the important images of the last few hours is that of Polish truck drivers blocking the border for Ukrainian trucks. Protesters denounce what they call unfair competition, while Ukrainian companies have benefited from more flexible regulations since the start of the war. In total, between 40,000 and 50,000 trucks cross this border every month.
Quote of the day: “You’ve made excellent progress, it’s impressive to see.”
The phrase to remember is that of Ursula von der Leyen when she visited Kiev, Ukraine, while the country is a candidate for membership in the European Union. She told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky: “You have made excellent progress, it is impressive to see.” She spoke about the reforms that have been carried out in Ukraine to prepare the conditions for the next stage, namely the start of negotiations create.
Today’s number: 24 minutes
This is the time that Volodymyr Zelensky thought necessary to explain to Donald Trump that he could not handle the war in Ukraine. When asked by an American media outlet, the Ukrainian president indirectly responded to Donald Trump, who declared last summer that if re-elected he would be able to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia in less than 24 hours.
