At least 14 people died in a fire in a building in Chile. “What pains us most is that there are several children among the dead,” Boris Chamorro, the mayor of the Pacific port city of Coronel, told CNN Chile. At least six minors died in the devastating fire that affected two houses in the residential area of Los Pirquenes.
According to the information, people lived in overcrowded houses. These fires in housing complexes that are often built illegally are more common in Chile. In early 2022, at least 100 homes were destroyed in a huge fire in the north of the country. More than 400 people were left homeless at that time.
