Former Blackhawks coach accused of sexual assault

Kyle Beach affair: A second player sues the Blackhawks

Inspired by his former teammate Kyle Beach, one of coach Brad Aldrich’s victims, a second player is suing the Chicago Blackhawks.

TSN reporter Rick Westhead learned Monday that the person, identified in court documents simply as “John Doe,” filed a complaint last week in Cook County, Illinois, district court.

The former ice hockey player accuses the Blackhawks of negligence, among other things, and is demanding compensation of more than $300,000. Like Beach, he was allegedly sexually abused by Aldrich during the 2009-10 season in which Chicago won the Stanley Cup. John Doe was part of the “Black Aces,” a group of players who accompanied the team and could help out in the event of an injury.

However, according to Canadian media, the complainant believes that the Blackhawks were negligent in hiring the coach and intentionally caused him emotional distress. According to the alleged victim, Aldrich behaved like a predator during the playoffs.

He allegedly received at least one photo of the video trainer’s penis and several disturbing text messages telling him he could perform oral sex better than any other woman. He also allegedly tried to show her pornographic content and asked to exchange sexual favors.

Aldrich also allegedly allowed John Doe to use his apartment to have a sexual relationship with a woman before breaking into her room and attempting to engage in it.

John Doe’s complaints to Blackhawks staff reportedly went unanswered. He also wouldn’t have known anything about the crimes committed against Beach.

The latter’s case, who publicly revealed his identity in October 2021, was settled in December of the same year when he reached an amicable settlement with the Blackhawks. The National Hockey League team was forced to pay $2 million for mishandling the matter, and many of its Hawks employees at the time were fired, including general manager Stan Bowman.
