247 The North American broadcaster CNN sent a journalist to follow the operations of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the Gaza Strip. However, the broadcaster agreed to a condition imposed by the IDF: all materials and footage collected in the area would be reviewed and preapproved by the Israeli army before publication.
The channel accepted the specific condition quoted in one of its broadcasts: “In order to enter the Gaza Strip with IDF air support, media outlets must submit all materials and footage to the Israeli army for verification before publication. CNN agreed to these terms.”
The broadcaster justified CNN’s decision to accept this condition by offering its viewers a direct insight into what is really happening in Gaza. However, critics argue that such a practice could undermine the objectivity and impartiality of journalism, as all content would be subject to the consent of one of the parties to the conflict.
