Block winners Steph and Gian make their glamorous Melbourne Cup debut after becoming overnight millionaires

The block winners Steph and Gian Ottavio immediately became millionaires after their successful auction in the final episode on Sunday.

Enjoying the spoils of their newfound wealth and fame, the pair put on a glamorous appearance in the Melbourne Cup at Flemington Race Course on Tuesday.

Steph looked perfect in a striking red dress with a sweetheart neckline and dramatic bright pink ruffle detailing that fell to the floor.

She added a pair of clear and dusty pink heels and carried a pink beaded handbag that matched her dress.

The 27-year-old architect wore a clean makeup look with warm blush and matte mauve lipstick while wearing her brunette bob in trendy waves.

Gian, 27, looked dapper in a pale pink blazer, white shirt, salmon tie and fitted navy trousers.

He completed his ensemble with a pair of dark brown leather loafers and round sunglasses.

While attending the races, the two gossiped about the controversy over hiring their agent early and denied that it gave them an advantage.

The lovebirds told Chron Australia they followed the rules by chatting openly with their agent Tom Panos, saying it was just quick thinking on their part.

“You can get in touch with your agent very early on. “Auctioneers usually come with agencies, but we got our own,” Steph began.

“I don’t see why this should be controversial.”

Gian then added that if what they did violated the rules of fair play, then other forms of preparation should also be classified as “controversial.”

“Wouldn’t that mean that looking at real estate photos before the show is controversial because it gives you a head start on the design?” “I disagree,” he said.

“Ultimately, The Block is a competition to see who will sell their house at auction for the most money, and how do you win?” “The A-Team has to work with you.”

Steph added that if the producers didn’t like her style of play, they could have put restrictions in place against it, but since there weren’t any, they were acting in fair play.

Speaking to Chron Australia on Monday, the Sydney couple also revealed their foolproof strategy for winning Channel Nine’s renovation series.

“When we got the call in February that we were on The Block, the first thing we did, I think three days later, was call our auctioneer,” they said.

“He was the first person we called and hired, and people probably wouldn’t believe that.” “Why would you call an auctioneer as soon as you find out you’re on the block?”

Steph and Gian continued: “It was a no-brainer” to win the same agency that helped Omar Slaimankhel and Ozman “Oz” Abu Malik win last year.

The Western Sydney pals made a shocking $1.6 million profit when they sold their Gisborne home during the block’s 18th season in 2022.

This year, Steph and Gian broke the record winnings by selling their Charming Street home for $1.65 million through reserve and received an additional $100,000 for their winnings.
