The President of Cape Verde will participate in the Luanda Biennale

Luanda, November 7 (Prensa Latina) The President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, confirmed his participation in the third edition of the Pan-African Forum for Culture of Peace and Non-Violence (Luanda Biennale), Jornal de Angola reported today.

According to the publication, the Cape Verdean president accepted the invitation of his Angolan counterpart João Lourenço to attend the event from November 22 to 24.

The Forum, whose theme is Education, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Instruments for Sustainable Development, will be a platform for collective reflection on the concept of peace as a fundamental basis for building harmonious societies.

Preparations for the event are very advanced, explained this Tuesday the spokesperson of the Multisectoral Commission of the Luanda Biennale, Neto Júnior, adding that everything is ready to make it a reality.

In a press conference, he explained that several heads of state have already confirmed their presence at the event, which is an initiative of Angola in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the African Union (AU).

Neto Júnior pointed out that a meeting to disseminate information about the Biennale was held on October 26 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, an activity chaired by that organization’s Deputy Director General for Africa and External Relations, Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah.

During the meeting, they highlighted the partnership between UNESCO and Angola in promoting a culture of peace, as well as the objectives towards which the Biennale is aimed, particularly with regard to strengthening the Pan-African movement, the Angolan Press Agency reported.

The Luanda Biennale has established itself on the African continent as a reference for the promotion and dissemination of good practices in the prevention and resolution of conflicts through interactive sessions that bring together politicians, experts, scientists and representatives of civil society.

On this occasion, youth will be the protagonist of the event.
