There is no shortage of work for Patrick Huard. The second season of LOL: Who laughs last? was shot like the third. He is working hard on developing the Bon Cop, Bad Cop series. He also acts as a producer for two series. “There is one about the life of the pilot Raymond Boulanger and another inspired by the police officer Benoît Roberge.” These projects are produced by a company he founded with his partner Anik Jean and the production company Attraction Images.

For several of these projects Patrick sHe does a lot of work behind the camera and that works for him. On the eve of his 55th birthday, it’s a direction he appreciates. When he is casually told that he is radiant, he replies, “What you see is just someone who is happy.” All is well. Life is good. The people around me are great. I have been working with incredible people for 30 years. I have people by my side who are so kind, kind and professional. I have rarely been so happy in my life. That must be what appears on my face! (laughs)”

He will be 55 years old on January 2nd. Does it bother him? “So far I would say that, with a few exceptions, every year has been better than the last.” And even if it were possible, he wouldn’t return at any price. “There is nothing that would change. I’m not nostalgic. A few days ago we filmed a TV show for The Boys’ 35th anniversary. I was really happy to see the boys again and I felt crazy. We reminisced and the like, but I repeat, I’m not a nostalgic person. What I have experienced, I have experienced, and I always want to have new experiences. I want to move forward, try new businesses, meet new people and challenge myself artistically and personally. I’m just looking now and forward.

And what does aging mean to him in general? “I always knew that the world would eventually get tired of me. That’s why I always prepared for it. I’ll still have work the day it happens. I will create, direct, produce and be happy.” Over timeis more necessary for himbe in the spotlight. “NO! I like being in the spotlight, it’s great fun, but I don’t do thatI do not need it. Well, I would say my share of work: 80% behind the camera and 20% in front of the camera.

HIS DAUGHTER IN CALIFORNIA

During the conversation, Patrick was asked about his children. With a smile on his face, Patrick sums up his youngest son, who, like his parents, has artistic ambitions. “He’s having fun, he’s enjoying it! He does all sorts of things, but doesn’t yet know what he wants to do in life. He goes to school and everything is fine. For our part, Anik and I don’t push.”

He then continues by sharing news about his eldest, Jessie. “She is currently in California doing trapeze. She is in rehearsals and will then travel to Germany for a show during the holiday season. It’s for a German circus with a troupe
half Quebecois, half Californian.”

Good cop, bad cop TAKE ANOTHER STEP

When asked about the development of the series “Bon Cop, Bad Cop”, which thousands of fans of the films of the same name are eagerly awaiting, Patrick says: “I will deliver the first episode in the coming days.” I am at this stage. I’m overwhelmed, but I have to say: I’m having a lot of fun!” The comedian, actor and screenwriter goes on to explain that with the completion of this first episode he also has the entire structure of the season.

We expected it, he can’t say much about the intrigues we’ll discover, but he still lifts part of the veil: “My character’s daughter, played by Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse, is now a police officer. Martin Ward (Colm Feore) has political ambitions. He wants to leave the police service to experience things a little more peacefully. And there is a new police officer joining the team who is local. What will drive the whole story forward is an oil pipeline crossing the country.” This is where the revelations stop.

The series is in development with eight episodes planned and may be presented on Crave. And yes, a certain Anik Jean will be working on the music. “Certainly, if his schedule allows it. That’s what I want because she did an incredible job on the second film. And if possible, I would like her to direct one of the eight episodes, but that depends on her projects. At the end of the interview we ask him what we can wish him for his upcoming 55th birthday… The answer doesn’t take long to arrive: “It would be great that things continue like they are now!”
