The new European Travel Information and Authorization System (Etias), which evaluates the profile of every tourist who wants to travel to the European Union, is only expected to be mandatory from mid2025

The idea of the European Commission is to require this authorization in order to improve the security of the Schengen area (which includes 26 countries). The system has been discussed since 2016 and is due to come into force in 2021, but has since been postponed.
O Etias is not a visa, but a kind of online permit that is requested every three years. Although it is not implemented, it is available to some nationalities such as: B. Brazilians are allowed to enter the area for tourist purposes without a visa or travel permit.
How will Etias work?
Anyone wishing to visit the 26 countries of the Schengen area must apply for Etias, which is granted based on the analysis of personal data filled in an online form, such as: B. Date of birth, criminal record and travel dates information.
The authorization allows the person traveling for tourist or business reasons to stay in the country within periods of 180 days up to 90 days, that is, after returning to their country of origin, the return to Europe would take at least 90 days.
In addition, the permit is valid for three years unless the passport expires earlier.
