Therefore, the objective was formulated, even if we suspected it a little, it is to take over security in the region.
For the former Israeli military intelligence officer Raphaël Jerusalmy, the Jewish state had no other alternative. “We have no choice,” he says. “We want someone else to deal with Gaza, I can guarantee you that, but in fact Gaza is an overpopulated region, very problematic, and that’s why no one wants to deal with it.” Benjamin Netanyahu tells us that there are no plans at all, to accept an international force with mandates that tie their hands. A West Bank-style profession or organization?
Assuming that Israel eliminates or expels Hamas from Gaza, two scenarios are currently on the table. And then Israel must provide itself with the financial and military means to hold the territory. This means more people need to be mobilized for longer, which has a significant impact on the economy.
The alternative would be a West Bank-style organization, modeled on the cities in the occupied territories. Namely administrative power in the Palestinian Authority and security under the responsibility of an Israeli security agency. In this configuration, the Hebrew state gives itself the right to intervene militarily at any time without being held accountable in court.
