Things just keep getting worse for Jonathan Huberdeau, who didn’t play a single second in the third period of Tuesday night’s game between the Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators.
The Quebec forward was kept on the bench by head coach Ryan Huska for the final 20 minutes of a game the Flames won 4-2. Huberdeau’s face was very long during this mission, which seemed like an eternity.
Before his penalty, the 30-year-old veteran had not fired a single shot or carried out a single check in the time of 14:24. This is the first time he has been on the bench since January 8, 2019, when he wore the Florida Panthers jersey.
After his offensive production dropped from 115 to 55 points last season, the Saint-Jérôme native expects to bounce back in 2023-2024. However, the Flames are once again in trouble and Huberdeau has recorded just six points in 12 games, in addition to a -12 margin, his team’s worst.
Calgary scored four unanswered goals to secure its fourth win of the season. Dillon Dube, Noah Hanifin, Blake Coleman and Nazem Kadri were the scorers.
