Former First Lady and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton looked chic as she spoke onstage with her daughter Chelsea Clinton at the Glamor Women of the Year Awards on Wednesday evening.
While some political figures attended election night parties or made the rounds on cable news, Clinton, 76, and her 43-year-old daughter took the stage Tuesday night to present America Ferrera with one of the magazine’s Women of the Year awards.
On stage at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, Clinton wore a rich purple dress embellished with jewel-toned beads that matched the former first lady’s signature colorful accessories.
Chelsea opted for a more subtle classic fit. She wore a fitted black dress with cap sleeves and a flattering neckline. She wore her hair down and down around her face and kept her jewelry to a minimum.

As the Clintons stepped out to celebrate the Women of the Year, Democrats emerged victorious in close races across the country, including Kentucky’s gubernatorial race, several key races in Virginia, and the pro-choice movement won a major victory in Ohio.
In addition to their more conventional careers in show business, many of the women honored by Glamor are also politically active.
Ferrera, for example, first met the Clintons during the 2008 campaign, when she enthusiastically supported Hillary Clinton in the hope that she would become the country’s first female president.
Accepting her award, Ferrera said, “Mrs. Secretary, I know I speak for so many of us when I say that you have been an example to all of us of always showing up to work on good days and especially on bad days .”
“You always get up to fight another day, and you have been a deep inspiration and influence in my life.” Thank you for who you are in this world and for welcoming me with your presence here tonight honor.”
Other high-profile attendees and honorees at the awards ceremony included Millie Bobby Brown, Brooke Shields, Mary J. Blige, Geena Rocero, Quinta Brunson and Selma Blair.

The show also honored actress and activist Selma Blair, who received the evening’s Daring to Disrupt Award.
Actress Chloë Grace Moretz introduced Blair by personally thanking her for her advocacy:
“Thank you, Selma, for your courage and resilience.”
“Your advocacy breaks norms and highlights the power of authenticity.” You are more than an inspiration, you are a beacon guiding us toward empathy and inclusivity. “You are a true role model,” she said.
Blair spoke about how she was able to bring together her passions for disability advocacy and fashion. She discussed what she learned from her often publicly documented experience with multiple sclerosis.
“It has been an amazing journey because I have come to think of disability as an olive tree, whose branches stretch out to find light in each other and provide peace, hope and healing,” she said.
