Homer Simpson will apparently stop suffocating Bart "The simpsons"

(CNN) – Times have really changed.

According to the same cartoon character, Homer Simpson stopped choking his son Bart, ending the series’ long (and outdated) joke.

This is one of the most iconic scenes in the animated series. In this recurring interaction, Homer, the father of the family, violently strangles Bark after shouting, “Why, little one…”

A clip from a recent episode of the series went viral after Homer shook hands with a new neighbor who complimented him on his strong handshake.

“Look, Marge, it was worth hanging that kid,” Homer says to his wife Marge.

Then he adds: “Just kidding, I don’t do that anymore. Time has changed.

After that, the news gained momentum a user of (formerly known as Twitter) posted a clip of the scene and wrote, “I just found out that after more than 30 years, The Simpsons has finally dropped the joke about Homer strangling Bart. It took quite a while.”

According to the Independent, Homer last strangled Bart in season 31, which ran from 2019 to 2020.

Since its debut in 1989, The Simpsons has been the longest-running animated series on television.
