A sex symbol with many passions
Almost two decades have passed since Patrick Dempsey appeared on screen as neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd, better known as Doctor Strangelove, in the ABC cult series Grey’s Anatomy alongside Ellen Pompeo, and even longer since his very first groundbreaking role as Surgeon Outcast in Can’t Buy Me Love 1987 in Italian Playboy in prova.

The first thing he thought when he was told the news that he had been crowned the sexiest man in Hollywood? “I was completely shocked and then started laughing. That’s a joke, isn’t it? “I’ve always been the bridesmaid!” she joked, referring to Paul Weiland’s 2008 romantic comedy “The Best Man,” in which she saw the actor in the role of a bridesmaid in love… with the bride.
“I had completely forgotten about my status as a sexy man and really didn’t think I would be in this position. So my ego is through the roof right now.” As for his kids’ reaction, Dempsey insists that “they’re just making fun of me and picking on me and finding out every reason why I shouldn’t do that,” he says. “Which is good, they keep me young.”
In December, he will showcase his driving skills in the biopic Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann (who received an interim contract from SAG-AFTRA during the actors’ strike), in which he plays Italian driver Piero Taruffi. The film taught him to take risks, but off the track.

The relationship between the two actors was ruined and the atmosphere became so “toxic” that director Shonda Rhimes herself made the decision to remove Dempsey.
