Montreal Alouettes running back Jeshrun Antwi was ultimately not suspended by the Canadian Football League (CFL).
On Wednesday, the circuit announced the sanctions for the unsightly events that occurred in the final moments of the Eastern semifinal between the Sparrows and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Defender Chris Ewards was visibly frustrated by the defeat and threw punches all over the field. In particular, he threw wide receiver Jake Harty to the ground and hit him in the head. This led to a scuffle. Antwi was ejected from the game for leaving his team’s bench to attack the Cats’ number 24.
Instead, the CFL decided to fine the Alouettes representative, which was also the case for pass catcher Régis Cibasu. The Quebecer had also left the bench to take part in the excitement.
For his part, Edwards was suspended for three games. The Ambrosie Circuit justified this punishment by saying that the 30-year veteran “hit opponents twice and provoked an altercation that had nothing to do with football.”
The American is a repeat offender and was suspended for six games at the end of the 2021 season. He received that sanction for attacking fans after lowering his flag in the Eastern final. However, the suspension had been reduced to three parts. In early 2023, Eward also received the CFL’s maximum penalty for striking Alouettes receiver Austin Mack during the June 23 collision.
The Als are currently preparing for the Eastern Finals where they will face the Toronto Argonauts. This matchup will be presented at BMO Field on Saturday at 3 p.m.
