Several members of Shania Twain’s touring team were injured Wednesday when their bus and a truck overturned after skidding on black ice in Saskatchewan.
The bus and truck that local media said were taking part in Shania Twain’s “Queen of Me” tour skidded around 7 a.m. while traveling on the Trans-Canada Highway near Wolseley, about a hundred kilometers from Regina removed, drove.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police did not provide a full estimate of the number of people involved and injured, saying only that several people required transport to hospital.
However, the head of Grenfell Fire Brigade, near Wolseley, told Global News that his men had removed 13 people from the tour bus. “All emergency exits, front window and rear top window have been removed. Little by little we got them out. We had people on the roof, inside, back and front working to get everyone out safely.”
The owner of Beat The Street USA, the company that provides transportation for Shania Twain’s tour crew and equipment, said he was “devastated” by the news.
“All passengers and the driver were examined for their injuries by paramedics and, if necessary, transported to hospital,” assured Jörg Philipp.
The country’s queen is currently completing the Canadian leg of her trip, having recently visited Quebec and Montreal. Her performance is scheduled for Thursday at the Sasktel Center in Saskatoon before heading to Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
The Canadian will then move to the Bakkt Theater in Las Vegas, where she will present her show 24 times in 2024.
