Coleen Rooney speaks for the first time about her “hurt and shame” over Wayne’s prostitute scandal and admits there were “shouting arguments” between them.

Coleen Rooney has told how she felt “hurt and ashamed” when she learned her husband Wayne had used prostitutes in a Liverpool massage parlor.

Speaking for the first time about the incident, which happened in 2002 when the former England captain was 16, she also described it as a “terrible dream” and admitted she couldn’t decide if their relationship had a future had.

Ms Rooney also told how his infidelity led to heated arguments at the Liverpool brothel where he had sex with a 37-year-old called Gina McCarrick and a 48-year-old grandmother.

In her autobiography, My Account, Ms Rooney, 37, candidly recalls the moment he confessed to her.

She said: “The whole story was that Wayne had been visiting prostitutes in a massage parlor in Liverpool when he was sixteen.” When Wayne sat me down and told me it was true and that the story would soon be in the national press, I was confused and hurt. I couldn’t even talk to him.

“More than that, I felt ashamed.”

Ms Rooney, 37, then a teenager, told how she worried about what others would think of Wayne’s behaviour.

“Everyone knew and everyone seemed to have an opinion.” I sat there with everything swirling around me like a terrible dream, unable to decide what was best or what I wanted.

“A voice inside me told me not to do anything rash and not to make a decision in the midst of my anger.”

“Dealing with something like that was heartbreaking enough, but I was eighteen years old.” I was upset and confused and didn’t know what to think or how others would react.

“I wasn’t sure how I felt about Wayne anymore. Plus, I knew my family’s instinct would be to protect me, and no matter how you put it, that wasn’t a good look.’

Ms Rooney, who now has four sons with Wayne, decided to hold a summit with him and hear his side of the story. She reveals how they had a secret meeting at her aunt’s home in Liverpool, where he admitted the details were true but insisted some of the revelations were “made up”.

The couple also took a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, where they tried to live some “normalcy” – wearing hats and turning up their collars so they wouldn’t be recognized while discussing their future.

After a few weeks, Ms Rooney decided to accept Wayne’s apology.

She said: “He knew how bad this was, how wrong.” He looked down as he told me how devastated he was to have put me in this situation.

“Of course I was still angry and there were definitely some exciting matches in the coming days. However, in the end I accepted that this happened a long time ago and that we are stronger and more committed now.”

“We weren’t the kids we were back then, Wayne wasn’t the cocky boy trying to impress his friends anymore.” If I had found out he was having an affair or he had told me he was in love with someone else , I wouldn’t have gotten over it, but that wasn’t the case.”

Ms Rooney also admits her 38-year-old husband’s behavior has “tested” her over the years – often when he has been drinking.

She says alcohol has a lot to answer for and admits that when Wayne has problems, he goes out and gets drunk and just makes things worse.

“I couldn’t have known it back then, but I would be tested in this way more than once in the future.” I say the same thing today as I did then. If you’re dealing with something stupid done in the heat of the moment with alcohol, the problem may be remediable.

“When love, emotion and persistent deception are involved, then it’s a different story.”

“Alcohol has a lot to answer for; For Wayne, it was often his downfall. When something bothers Wayne, he often keeps it quiet.

“Instead of coming out with what’s bothering him and freeing himself from the burden, he pushes it down. Then sometimes he lashes out at one and behaves in a way that makes things worse.”

Ms Rooney also admitted that Wayne – now manager of Birmingham City football club – was at times unable to “control his drinking”. She reveals how he has “binges.”

The couple, who have four children – Kai, 14, Klay, ten, Kit, seven and Cass, five – got together when they were teenagers after Wayne repeatedly asked the now-WAG out.

She finally agreed and they watched an Austin Powers movie and then ate at McDonalds.

They got engaged in October 2003 when Rooney proposed at an Esso gas station while they were on their way to dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

He gave her an emerald-cut ring and they decided to go to the house of Mrs. Rooney’s parents, Colette and Tony, instead.

There, they celebrated with a bottle of champagne and Colette’s corned beef hash – and she also lit a few candles for the happy couple.

The Rooneys married in an idyllic ceremony in Italy in the summer of 2008 and welcomed their first son, Kai, in 2009 after a miscarriage a few months earlier.

Ms Rooney told how she lost the baby at the end of 2008 when she was ten weeks old. She told how doctors gave her and Wayne the bad news after she started bleeding.

She said of the miscarriage: “It’s strange to feel all this excitement and joy, only to lose it so quickly – a terrible experience that also catapulted Wayne to six.”

“When he got back home that night, he cried. He desperately wanted to be a father and I could see on his face how devastated he was at the loss.

“It’s terrible,” he said. “I know you’ve had such a horrible experience, but it’s hard for me too.”

“I think he just needed to express his feelings, which he didn’t do too often. “It stayed with him for quite a while, probably until I got pregnant again.”
