San José, November 8 (Prensa Latina) The Popular Vanguard Party (PVP, communist) today called on Costa Ricans to defend public health and their pension system created 82 years ago.
From our Popular Vanguard Party and its Costa Rican Vanguard Youth, we will defend at all costs the institution that represents the guarantee of life for our people: the Costa Rican Social Security Fund.
The group responds with this call to the announcement of the CCSS directors the day before and seeks to shorten the long and long waiting lists to access services, a problem that worries Costa Ricans since a person spends more than a year until the may need medical care.
A solution to this phenomenon is the contracting out of services, which worries the residents of this country and the trade unions, who consider this contracting out of services to be an insidious form of privatization.
In particular, they are impatient with the inclusion of additional mechanisms such as the co-payment system, in which the user covers part of the cost of health services received at a private center, where they have not yet decided whether the establishment will do so 50 or pay 60 percent.
In its warning call, the PVP emphasizes that attempts have been made for several years to destroy social security in order to clear the way and be able to benefit from our right to health.
Over the years they have managed to cause a lot of damage to our box, but those who designed it knew how to shield it so that it would not be destroyed so easily. Remember, this does not stop the enemies of public health who use every possible excuse to violate the Constitution and attack the Fund.
For all these reasons, we call on our people to organize and fight for what is ours and what they want to take from us. The doors of Vanguardia Popular are open to every good person willing to fight for what is ours. Let’s not wait until we are tenants in our own country, they emphasize.
La Caja, as they call this public health and social security system, was founded in November 1941.
