The Ottawa Senators won the first duel of the season against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday evening at the Scotiabank Arena.
This first chapter of the Battle of Ontario, presented on TVA Sports, ended with a 6-3 victory for the Ottawa club. Check out the highlights in the video above.
The “Sens”, who have been at the center of turmoil since the resignation of general director Pierre Dorion, won their first game in three games. It was only the team’s second win in the last seven games.
In today’s game, Dominik Kubalik used a power play in the third period to tie the game 3-3, it was his second goal of the evening.
Less than a minute after the Czech’s second win, Tim Stützle sounded the death knell for the Leafs by beating Joseph Woll with a wrist shot. The third overall pick in the 2020 draft was previously involved in the two goals from Claude Giroux and Jakob Chychrun.
It was Stützle’s fifth four-point game in the National League. Mathieu Joseph also had a productive evening with three assists.
In Maple Leafs camp, William Nylander scored a goal and an assist. The Swedish forward extended his streak of games with at least one point to 12 in as many games this season. His score now stands at 18 points (7-11).
The second of four duels between the two Ontario teams is scheduled for December 7th, but this time at Canadian Tire.
