The union that represents Hollywood actors (SAGAFTRA, the acronym in English) announced this Wednesday (8) that it has reached a preliminary agreement with the film studios and streaming services in the industry, which represents the Hollywood Actors’ strike, after almost four months of mobilization.

According to the Hollywood Reporter magazine, the company’s negotiating committee unanimously approved the agreement. The strike was scheduled to end this Thursday (9) at midnight local time (5 a.m. in Brasília). The decision will be presented to the union’s National Council on Friday (10).

According to Variety magazine, the current agreement increases most minimum wages in actors’ contracts by 7%. Further details will not be announced until Friday.

The negotiations focused on better wages and other benefits as well as defining the use of artificial intelligence in the production of films and television programs to ensure that their digital images are not recreated without permission.

A onetwo punch, something not seen in Hollywood for more than 60 years, shut down much film and television production in the United States.
