There is nothing like waking up in a French palace with the largest private garden in Europe, full of multimillion dollar works of art and even a secret underground temple… This is an experience that some lucky people get to have if they do rent like that. called “Domaine du Champ de Bataille”, also known as “the most expensive house in the world”.
According to realtor Erick Conover, whose video showing the property has been viewed more than 20 million times, the $1 billion residence was built in the 17th century and took 10 years to complete. It was designed by the same architect as the Palace of Versailles, Louis Le Vau. Currently the property belongs to the decorator Jacques Garcia and is not available for sale but for rent.
Located 1h30 from Paris, the castle has no less than 40 rooms, 5 rooms, a ballroom, a throne room, indoor and outdoor pools and art decorations that alone can be worth millions of dollars. One of the highlights is a wheelchair that belonged to Queen Marie Antoinette’s son.
Other luxurious items include the two libraries with more than 20,000 books and some mummies that’s right: the residence has a collection of real mummies and a secret passage that leads to a corridor full of carved animals. The mansion also features an underground cave that has been converted into a temple.
