This will be the third opinion that the legislature is considering today, as the morning session discussed two provisions on introducing adjustments in the Long Thanh International Airport project and considering specific mechanisms and policies for investment in the construction of transportation structures. Regarding the planned air terminal, according to the VNA news agency, the government proposed to reduce the total investment from about 997 million dollars to 835 million dollars and the reclaimed land area from about five thousand 399 hectares to five thousand 317, in addition to requesting an extension of the disbursement period for public Investments.

This Thursday afternoon, deputies will vote on the resolution on the socio-economic development plan for 2024 and listen to the proposal and audit report of the draft Law on the Organization of People’s Courts (amended), which they will then discuss as a group.

During the last interpellation meeting with government officials the day before, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that the executive branch is committed to achieving the goals and objectives set for 2023 at the highest level, thereby creating impetus for the implementation plan for next year’s development.

The government, he said, is focused on promoting the drivers of economic growth, implementing policies to support demand growth, particularly fiscal and monetary policies, improving access to credit and land, expanding markets and diversifying products and supply chains.

Likewise, he added, the focus is on promoting the disbursement of public investments, attracting private and foreign social investment capital, and ensuring price and market stability, especially for essential goods.

At the same time, it closely monitors and updates the development of the national and international situation, with the aim of responding quickly, flexibly and effectively to emerging problems, he emphasized.

In the meeting itself, National Assembly President Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized the need to intensify economic restructuring and reform the growth model, create more jobs and increase workers’ income in order to maintain macroeconomic stability and the economy’s large balance sheets and maintaining social well-being.

He also recommended making greater efforts to implement salary policy reform from July 2024 and mobilize more resources for education, training and culture.
