Maybe James Harden could face a new taunt this season?
As the Los Angeles Clippers continued their New York trip on Wednesday night, Brookly Nets supporters serenaded one James Harden with a certain chant.
The Barclays Center appeared to light up with chants of “Daryl Morey” as Brooklyn fans took advantage of James Harden’s most famous sensitivity point these days. In his second game of the season, Harden, along with teammates Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, battled Lonnie Walker IV (who finished with a team-high 21) and the Nets. Brooklyn won the game 100-93 in a fine performance by Jacques Vaughn’s team. Six Nets scored in double figures. Paul George led all scorers with 24 points, Kawhi added 17 points and Harden finished with 12 points, five dimes and eight boards. It is the second game in a row that Harden finished with a loss as a team +- (-15). Beard also had five turnovers.
And well… that dime told Ian Eagle the story of his night:
Harden had a game-low -18 in his Clippers debut against RJ Barrett, Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks. For those keeping score, he posted a -33 in his 36 minutes for the 2018 MVP’s new team.
And apparently, based on the chant from Nets fans above, Harden may have to deal with some heckling as he moves around towns with reason to…heckle. If he visits Philadelphia, Houston, Oklahoma, or even a passionate city like Boston that can easily rival the NBA, we might get to hear more funny Morey chants.
Apparently Harden called Daryl a “liar” last summer and the New York fans knew exactly what to shout to get under Beard’s skin. And you can see from the full sequence below that it may have just helped:
More importantly, the Sixers are in first place in the East after their 106-103 win over the rival Celtics that same night. And the newfound ball movement and cuts that Nick Nurse has implemented may not be suited to Harden’s strong dribbling skills anyway. wood wool.
